Jeffrey H. Levenson MD

Jeffrey H. Levenson, M. D., received his undergraduate degree in Biology with honors from Princeton University. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he was the President of A.O.A., the Medical Honor Society. Dr. Levenson served his residency training in Ophthalmology at Emory University where he also served as Chief Resident. He has authored several chapters of a standard medical school textbook and has served as an editor of the American Academy of Ophthalmology's textbook series.

Dr. Levenson is a member of several local and national medical societies and is an Associate Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida. He has served as Chief of the Section of Ophthalmology of Baptist Medical Center and is active with several charitable medical organizations including Volunteers in Medicine, the Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless, and We Care Jacksonville. He is the President of Vision is Priceless, and has coordinated the Gift of Sight program in Jacksonville for over twenty years, providing free cataract surgery to blind and medically indigent First Coast patients. He also travels regularly with Surgical Eye Expeditions, International (http://www.seeintl.org/), bringing cataract surgery to the poor and blind of Central and South America.

Dr. Levenson is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been selected by his peers as one of "Florida's Top Doctors" and Jacksonville Magazine has recognized him as one of the top ophthalmologists in the region.

Married to Dr. Ilene Levenson and the father of three children, Dr. Levenson is an avid bicyclist, runner, and kayaker.

Walter Gilbert MD

Dr. Walter Gilbert received his undergraduate degree from Emory University. He then earned his doctorate in medicine at Duke University, where he was elected to A.O.A., the medical honor society. He was selected to participate in the Research Training Program for Clinical Investigators at Duke, where he did medical research in the field of molecular biology. He interned for one year on the Osler Medical Service of Johns Hopkins Hospital and, for the next three years, did his ophthalmic surgery residency training at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He next performed a year of post-residency fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami before beginning practice in Jacksonville. He served for three months as a volunteer eye surgeon for Care Medico in Africa and has published scientific papers in numerous medical journals. His practice has specialized in small incision cataract surgery with lens implants since 1974, and he has performed more than 37,000 of these operations.

Dr. Gilbert is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and holds memberships in numerous medical and ophthalmological societies.

In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors, spending time in the country, hunting, fishing, traveling and enjoying his family.

 Frank McDonald MD

Frank W. McDonald, M.D. specializes in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery, including blade-free LASIK and PRK. He earned his undergraduate degree, with honors, from the University of Notre Dame. After completing medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. McDonald served his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also acted as chief resident. He was then awarded a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, receiving extensive training in LASIK and the treatment of corneal disease.

In addition to serving as a cornea specialist, Dr. McDonald is committed to providing comprehensive eye care to his patients, including the management of diabetes, glaucoma, and numerous other ophthalmic conditions. He is an active member in multiple medical societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Medical Association. He also actively donates his time to such charitable organizations as Vision is Priceless, We Care Jacksonville, and Volunteers in Medicine.

When not treating patients, Dr. McDonald enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, and playing golf.

Sing Your Li MD

 Sing Your Li, MD graduated with honors from MIT    as a double major in Biology and Physics. She  earned her doctorate in medicine from Weill  Medical  College of Cornell University where she  also  participated in biomedical research in ocular  disease. She completed he medical training with  residency in Ophthalmology at the Univesity of  Illinois in Chicago, a leading center for eye care in  the Midwest. after practicing successfully Western  New York for five years, Dr. Li joined Levenson Eye Associates.

 Dr. Li has authored several papers in scientific  journals and presented posters at national  ophthalmology meetings. She enjoys the practice  of  comprehensive ophthalmology and is a  member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Li is married to Dr. Eugene Wang, a pain specialist, and they have two young children.

Curtis Schmidt OD

Curtis Schmidt OD is an avid fisherman, but it's his patients who have fallen for his warm nature and expert care hook, line and sinker. Dr. Schmidt’s earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Doctor of Optometry degree, along with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. His experience includes diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and vision disorders along with primary eye care for children and adults.

A member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Northeast Florida Optometric Society, he has also served as an adjunct faculty for the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Fully board certified, Dr. Schmidt is married to optometric physician, Dr. Jill Tamsett-Schmidt and is the father of two boys. When he’s not in the office, he coaches his sons' soccer teams and cheers on the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Florida State Seminoles.

Ronald Singal MD

Doctor Ronald Singal has been practicing comprehensive ophthalmology in Jacksonville for over 25 years. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Together with Dr. Sheldon Singal, they founded the first outpatient surgery center in North Florida dedicated to the treatment of eye disease. Doctor Ron` Singal has served as Chief of the Section of Ophthalmology at St Lukes Hospital and as President of the Duval County Society of Ophthalmology.

Doctor Sheldon Singal has been practicing comprehensive ophthalmology in Jacksonville for over 25 years. Steven H Schwartz OD

Steven H Schwartz, OD, received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of Illinois, where he was honored as a recipient of the George Huff Award for Scholastics and Athletics. He was awarded a Bachelors of Science in Physiologic Optics and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he received a Deans List with Honors distinction.

Dr. Schwartz is Board Certified by the State of Florida and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. He has practiced in Jacksonville since 1981, providing comprehensive eye care to both adults and children.

He volunteers at the Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless, is the proud father of three children, and is a loyal Jaguars fan.

Kevin Michael McAuliffe, M.D.

Kevin Michael McAuliffe, M.D., grew up “Where the mountains meet the sea” in picturesque mid-coast Maine. He graduated with honors from St. Francis College with a B.A. in Biology, went on to earn his medical degree from Georgetown University, and did his specialty training in eye surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville.  He and his wife, Sandra L. Mercier, D.M.D., began their practices together in Mandarin in 1979. They designed and built a building on a then thickly forested San Jose Blvd.  Dr. Mercier was one of Jacksonville’s first solo private practice female dentists, and Dr. McAuliffe was the first full time Ophthalmologist in Mandarin. 

In addition to Dr. McAuliffe’s special interest in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and cataracts, he has delighted in delivering comprehensive eye care to area families. Three generations of those families have had the trust and confidence to permit him the privilege and pleasure of caring for them.

In addition to being Board certified, he has authored articles in medical journals, as well as presented papers and taught courses at national Ophthalmology meetings. He belongs to numerous Ophthalmologic societies and is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons.  He is a Past President of the Duval County Medical Society.

Dr. McAuliffe is an avid kayaker, scuba diver, and wildlife photographer.  He and his wife have enjoyed the beauty, adventure and cross-cultural experience of traveling to over 45 countries.
